Found Media

This is a photo I found on the website RedBubble.com by the artist Ingz. It is a beautiful and dynamic shot of a button. She made the button interesting with her lighting techniques, creating a contrast between lights and darks and shadow.

Artist Statement

I am attracted to small objects and the interesting curves and details put into them and dull routines we have to go through each day. I think there can be beauty in the daily and mundane things we see and do. With this blog and project, I wanted to explore that and try and expose the beauty and create a story in these objects or routines.
There is an attractiveness in how we each have to tie our shoes, brush our teeth, get dressed each day. We commit to these rituals, yet no one stops to notice how interesting they can be because they become a secondary part of our lives. Also, when looking at an object like a button, nail clippers or a razor, we never think about the tiny details they are made up of, and these are things used almost everyday. Because they are not unique and we interact with them on a daily basis, their beauty is forgotten, unless made attractive my marketers. I want to take these seemingly boring items and make them have their own story and personality.
I hope, after this project is done, that I will have created an interest for the boring and mundane routines we do everyday and show the beauty in the uninteresting, unnoticed objects we use. I want people to take a new interest in the things we see each day and see the beauty in small details.
